Our Story

From humble beginnings to Namibia's premier cricket academy

Founded on Passion for Cricket

Run Whisperers was founded in 2020 in the heart of Namibia by a group of passionate cricket enthusiasts who believed in nurturing local talent. What started as a small community club with just 15 members has grown into a premier cricket academy with over 120 active players.

Our founders, former national team players and certified coaches, recognized the need for professional cricket development in Namibia. They combined their expertise to create a comprehensive training program that focuses not just on skills, but also on character building and sportsmanship.

Today, we're proud to be recognized as one of Namibia's leading cricket academies, with our teams competing successfully in national tournaments and international competitions across Africa. We have produced several players who have gone on to represent Namibia at junior and senior levels.

Our Journey

Key milestones in our development

2020

Academy Founded

Run Whisperers Cricket Academy was officially established with 15 founding members and two certified coaches. Started with basic training facilities at Windhoek Sports Fields.

2021

First Tournament Win

Our junior team won their first regional tournament, marking the beginning of our competitive success. This victory established our reputation as a developing force in Namibian cricket.

2022

International Expansion

We competed in our first international tournament in South Africa, finishing in the top 3. This experience exposed our players to higher levels of competition and international standards.

2023

Facility Upgrade

Completed major upgrades to our training facilities including new practice nets, batting cages, and a dedicated fitness center. This investment significantly improved our training capabilities.

2024

Professional Partnerships

Formed partnerships with international cricket boards, equipment sponsors, and sports science institutes. These partnerships enhanced our coaching methodologies and player development programs.

2025

National Recognition

Recognized as Namibia's fastest-growing cricket academy with 120+ active players across multiple age groups. Received accolades for youth development and community engagement.

David Muller

Head Coach & Founder

Former Namibia national team captain with 15 years coaching experience. ECB Level 3 certified coach with specialization in batting technique and game strategy.

Sarah van der Merwe

Batting Specialist

Former South African domestic player with Level 3 coaching certification. Specializes in developing young batting talent and mental conditioning for high-pressure situations.

James Petersen

Bowling Coach

Former professional fast bowler with expertise in biomechanics. Specializes in pace bowling development, injury prevention, and bowling action analysis using video technology.

Maria Shikongo

Fitness & Conditioning

Sports science graduate specializing in cricket-specific fitness training. Designs individualized conditioning programs focusing on strength, agility, and injury prevention.

Structured development pathways for all ages and skill levels

Junior Development (8-12)

Ages 8-12 | Beginner to Intermediate

Focus on basic skills, coordination, and introducing the love for cricket. Emphasis on fun, safety, and fundamental skill development.

Youth Academy (13-16)

Ages 13-16 | Intermediate to Advanced

Advanced skill development, tactical understanding, and introduction to competitive cricket. Focus on specialization in batting, bowling, or fielding.

Senior Academy (17+)

Ages 17+ | Advanced to Elite

High-performance training, advanced tactics, physical conditioning, and preparation for competitive leagues and national selection.

Training environment designed for excellence

Professional Training Nets

8 bowling lanes with different surfaces including turf, concrete, and artificial pitches. Equipped with bowling machines and video analysis technology for immediate feedback.

Fitness Center

Fully equipped gym with cricket-specific training equipment, recovery facilities including cryotherapy, and dedicated areas for mobility work and injury prevention.

Video Analysis Room

High-tech classroom with video analysis software, large screens for group sessions, and individual workstations for players to review their performance with coaches.
